Nov 14, 2013

When winter hits, so might your desire for some delicious comfort food. The following three restaurants offer great hearty meal options in downtown and western Hamilton that will leave you full and satisfied.

1) La Cantina (60 Walnut Street South)

La Cantina opened its doors in Hamilton in 1986 on the west side of the steel city. La Cantina has grown into one of Hamilton’s most demanded Italian restaurants due to its classic old-world Italian food and flavors. The restaurant features a massive menu loaded with classic and comforting Italian favorites. La Cantina offers over 20 different types of unique pizza prepared entirely with fresh homemade pizza dough, gluten free dinner options, an enormous wine list, and portion controlled sizes (if wanted). La Cantina is only a 2-minute walk away from our 175 Hunter Street apartments, so you can easily enjoy delicious Italian classics all year round.

2) Black Forest Inn (225 King Street East)

The Black Forest Inn has been a Hamilton landmark since 1967, serving the best Austrian, German, and Continental cuisine. The menu includes hearty meals such as schnitzel, homemade sausages, meatloaf, and much more. Chef Wolfgang serves up daily lunch and dinner specials, and even shares some of his ‘secret’ recipes on the restaurant’s website. Black Forest Inn offers a cozy European ambience, great food at amazing value, and a wide selection of Austrian and German wines and beers. Black Forest Inn is within close walking distance of our 23 Spring Street South residences, so you can enjoy their homemade apple strudel daily!

3) Thirsty Cactus (2 King Street East in Dundas)

The Thirsty Cactus is a popular southwestern grill located in central Hamilton. This tex-mex bar and grill offers a gigantic hearty menu complete with favorites such as fajitas, steaks, ribs, and much more.
