    With so many festivals in almost every province, there’s something every Canadian can be excited about this summer. Timbercreek Communities has a list of the top 5 festivals across Canada that you should check out this season.

    Edmonton Ribfest

    If you’re a meat lover who loves BBQ, Edmonton Ribfest is your paradise. Try some of the best slow cooked ribs, pulled pork and chicken as well as the beer and wine tap. Since the festival is all ages, you can enjoy the live entertainment while your kids have fun in the Kids Zone. Don’t forget to check out this year’s Best Rack Competition and the new Ribfest Olympics. The event is free and runs from July 12-14th, 2019.

    Beaches International Jazz Festival

    Are you ready for one of the most exciting festivals of the summer? The International Beaches Jazz Festival takes place in Toronto every year and features incredible emerging and established musicians. This year it takes place July 5th to 28th. Aside form the amazing music, you can also check out multi-arts exhibits, workshops and indulge at the gourmet food trucks. What more could you ask for in an event?

    Saskatoon Exhibition

    There’s so much to be excited about when it comes to the Saskatoon Exhibition. With over 20 rides, incredible shows and delicious food, this is one summer festival you won’t want to miss. This year, witness Terrance Bellinger hypnotize crowds or watch a magic show with dogs! If that’s not your thing, you can always explore the exhibitors or grab a bite at one of the new restaurants and finally try that charcoal ice cream that you’ve been thinking about for months! The festival runs from August 6th to 11th,  2019.

    Red River Exhibition

    Kick off your summer at the Red River Exhibition in Winnipeg. This 10-day festival starts on June 14th and features all kinds of rides, music, buskers and competitions. Plus, there are a ton of attractions including the new Extinction Park where you can get the ultimate dinosaur experience or meet your child’s favourite princess or superhero at the Living Fairytale. Don’t forget to check out the shoppers market while you enjoy your favourite midway treats and be sure to stay for the fireworks!

    New France Festival

    If you haven’t checked out The New France Festival (Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France) yet, add it to your list! Transport yourself to the seventeenth century at this unique festival and witness thousands of colourful costumes from that time, musical performances and parades. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the arrival of the first Europeans in America, as well as Quebec’s rich cultural heritage. The New France Festival runs from August 1st to 4th in Quebec City.

    Osheaga

    Osheaga is a renowned annual multi-day music and arts festival in Montreal, Quebec. With six stages and an array of food, visual arts, and activities, it’s become a Canadian staple on the festival circuit.     Motion Notion

    Located in the heart of the beautiful Canadian Cascade mountain range near Merritt, BC, Motion Notion is a now 19 year old festival of music and art. Presenting a mix of funk and electronic music, Motion Notion 2018 presents artists such as Abstrakt Sonance, Defunk, Culture Shock, AU5, Cheshire, Average Gypsy, and Emok.     Chasing Summer

    An electronic music festival running August 4 and 5, 2018, Chasing Summer comes to life at the Max Bell Centre Festival Grounds in Calgary.     Meme

    The Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition is an annual (free) event in that it offers a wealth of high calibre local and international electronic musicians.     Mutek

    MUTEK Montréal bursts into action this summer, with its 19th edition, running August 22 to 26.
